Tangier
Located near the Strait of Gibraltar, Tangier is a city that bridges Africa and Europe. With an open-minded attitude and an attractive, well-maintained medina, it is a city that could rival Europe. The medina is the historic heart of the city, with lively markets and bustling streets; its alleys among white buildings have inspired many artists.
Must-visit sites include the Musée de la Kasbah, an ancient fortress situated at the highest point of the medina, offering spectacular views of the sea, and the Grand Socco square, where the city’s liveliest market is located—serving as a connection between the medina and the Ville Nouvelle.
A few kilometers from the city, Cap Spartel is worth a visit, famous for its breathtaking landscapes where the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet, as are the Hercules Caves, located near the lighthouse. Legend has it that the caves are the end of a 24-kilometer tunnel connecting Morocco and Spain.
Tangier also has an important port and is an excellent starting point for exploring Morocco.
